Bitcoin (BTC) mining firm Bitdeer introduced at present that it had acquired a 101-MW gas-fired energy plant close to Fox Creek, Alberta, to construct a “vertically built-in” BTC mining operation.
“We’re actually enthusiastic about planting roots in Alberta, our first website in Canada. This acquisition is the end result of in depth collaboration with a number of authorities businesses and the Canadian Blockchain Consortium,” Haris Basit, chief technique officer at Bitdeer, stated in a press launch. “It marks a big step in our technique to turn into the primary fully-vertically built-in Bitcoin miner, giving us unmatched management over prices, power effectivity, and scalability.”
Bitdeer says they plan to construct out a 99 MW datacenter on the positioning. The location has the capability to scale to 1 GW. Power manufacturing prices for the ability will probably be between $20 to $25 per MW/h.
The plant can be licensed for a 99 MW interconnect to the native energy grid, and Bitdeer stated it plans to promote energy again to the Alberta grid to stabilize costs during times of excessive demand.
“By combining our personal energy technology, SEALMINER mining machines and opportunistic grid participation, we consider this website will set a brand new benchmark for trade unit economics,” Basit added.
Bitdeer says it plans to begin website preparation and preliminary infrastructure improvement in Q2 2025 and have it absolutely operational in This fall 2026.
